GirlRiders

I live in small town (okay med. size) Kansas, but I am from the East Coast and that is where I fell in love with bikes. Anyway...as you can tell I miss home...I have been in Manhattan for several years and it is located by a military base and a major university is in the town and I can promise you I can count on two hands how many women I have seen riding bikes. Now I don't presume to have seen every woman rider, but it is not a big thing out here like it is on the coast for women (there is not one female club or social group in a 50 mile radius), so I am stuck trying to figure out ways to connect with other women riders. I don't particular care to ride or spend a lot of time with male riders. They are okay from time to time.

This is the first site I have found that seems strong and helpful, so I am excited about this new discovery. I am stealing the all girl photo shoot idea and I am also going to try to host a Women's Rider Month ride. I have some strong ties into the male bike world, so I am going to try and use those ties to promote these events, but any other ideas that have worked for others would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Nino

Nino, Please use this site as much as you need, you can post your events and create your own group page if you like.   I got this started by going to local shops and bike nights and posting flyers about a Girls Only Ride I also posted links to the event page on local motorcycle forums. Whenever you see a women rider, stop and talk or leave her a flyer.

Feel free to steal the photo shoot idea, LOL.  Just keep coming back to GR and invite your new riding friends!

Keep at it, you'll find the riders, they are probably looking for you too!

Keep us posted!

Expanding on that idea, create a "GirlRiders flyer Kansas chapter" and see if your local MSF course locations will give it out to promote safe women's riding (like a public service). So you would be not only promoting this great site, but really pointing gals in your direction that may not know about other girl riders in your area :)

Ideas for flyer 1) Subject bullets of the helpful tips found on here about safety, women's gear, etc 2) Put link to GirlRiders.net website 3) Put "Join Kasas regional group" and you'll be able to monitor online / get in touch with new gals who sign up!

Hmm, Katie, i'm thinking this might be a nice idea at local MSF course locations too :)

You read my mind in regards to the MSF/BRC locations, but thought maybe it looked like "stalking" :P
