GirlRiders

I just returned from a long north to south UHaul road trip along the East coast. Along the way we saw many bikers on the road. I'm happy to report about 30% were women. Anyway, as a small group of sport bikers passed us (2 gals, 1 guy) one of the gals stuck her leg out.  Right away I was looking on the ground for an obstacle then she stuck her other leg out, changing lanes.  I then realized that she was signaling a lane change with her leg rather than her arm.  She didn't use her bike's directional signal at all.  I found this odd.  Has anyone done this or heard of it before?  In my circle we only do that if there is something to avoid on the road.

That's weird. Never heard of that before. I would have been looking for stuff in the road as well. Maybe her turn signals were busted and she was afraid to remove hands from grips?????

I've been known to stick my leg out to change lanes(or even change positions in formation within the same lane)...I don't have a rhyme or reason as to when i switch from blinkers to leg and I almost never use hand signals....

I just picked it up from the guys I rode w/ in SW Florida.

and i didn't see Loura's response.  I'm not afraid to take my hands off the grips

I leg point for road debri. I have used my legs to change lanes in formation (not across the line).  It is confusing to other riders if you're not consistent. I always use my blinkers too.
I Am waiting for someone I've ridden with to call me out on that "always" statement, LOL

If everyone in your group knows what's going on, I can see doing it within formation.  I'm not so sure how highway patrol would view it if you were changing lanes on the highway, like the rider I observed.  I don't remember that being covered in the MSF course.  I live in Florida and haven't seen it before.  I think I saw this rider in the D.C. area.  Thanks for the FYI.

hehe I've looked at your pics and I bet you're not. Great looking bike btw. Something about that white. Just love it on bikes.

I've had LEO behind me when I use the leg as a signal with no incidents.  I think I use the leg mostly when I'm in a group ride but if I'm on the interstate or riding by myself I get less consistent....but I haven't really kept track.

Thanks Loura.  I love my bike...the white is sparkly too.
and since the days I joined GR I have improved just a little bit.
