Can motorcycling strengthen bones
We can all agree that motorcycles help you feel younger, but can riding actually make your body more youthful?

A Medical College of Georgia study finds that “A daily dose of whole body vibration may help reduce the usual bone density loss that occurs with age,” on top of improving muscle strength and weight loss… so perhaps it follows that the pulse of a v-twin and the judder of handgrips might help aging bones get stronger?

The extrapolation isn’t entirely far fetched, and it sure offers a new reason to shop for bikes with non-counterbalanced, rigidly mounted motorcycles; heck, I’m sure there’s a second-hand Buell out there that would fit the bill for a song!

that would be great for me! cuz I have 38% bone loss and have severe osteoporosis.  Drs usually lecture me in the dangers of riding with weak bones but luckily for me.......my family dr is also a avid rider.  Soooooo, he understands the emotional satisfaction that comes with riding.   yeah for me :)
Oh wow, nice read. That would be a great thing . Wonder if they are going to do a larger study on this? I would be willing to give them help as a "Test Dumby "  :)  . I think they would need to start with the 30- something  year olds and take a few years to do all the research .
Does this mean that we have to go buy cruisers to get the most benefit?!!!
Well vibration was always a good thing. but this is making it a great thing!
