Does anyone have any tricks for keeping your motorcycle riding gear looking new and clean between washes? I was thinking of "scotchgaurding" my textile jacket, is that crazy?

Leather, I usually just wipe down and use a leather cleaner/protector every so often.
Helmet - soap and water sometimes, plexus regularly
Boots - I've been neglecting, I need to work on that, lol
Gloves - ??
Oh, and I Febreze everything.

Permalink Reply by acalliste on November 1, 2011 at 6:48pm I throw my textile gear in the washer occasionally, fabreze the inside of my leather and clean & condition the outside every now and then, or after riding in the rain, or after being laminated in love bugs.
I usually wear a balaclava so there's no real need to clean the inside of my helmet and I just use pledge, honda polish or plexus to clean the outside and plain water to clean the shield. If the bugs have hardened on, I'll take a soaked paper towel and drape it over the shield, let it sit for a few minutes to rehydrate the bugs, then just wipe them off with the paper towel.
My gloves and boots only get cleaned & conditioned after rain. For the gloves, I put them on and rub the cleaner in, wipe off with a clean cloth and then rub the conditioner in the same way.
I don't really care about my gear looking new. Just that it's well cared for, and in good working condition.

I did a silly thing though when I replaced my crashed jacket...I bought an off-white/ivory one, so I'm trying to keep the stains away. Rebuying everything at once really reminds you how expensive this stuff us, I figure I'll give this set a little more TLC.
