Wanting to learn to drag race.  Any advice on how to get started.  My family are big car drag racers but I want to learn to drag race my bike.  I don't know where to get started.

Call your local drag strip and see if they have open drags for bikes (normally a "test & tune" or a "grunge-run") are open to anyone. Find out what requirements they may have to participate, i.e. leathers, over the ankle boots, etc, although you should be riding in leathers, some of the open drags only require a riding jacket and boots. Get in as many practice runs as you can and start to learn throttle/clutch control on launches. Hope that helps!

Thanks...do you have any recommendations on female drag leathers...I see a lot of racing leathers but it seems to be pretty limited on drag leathers....in my short search I have ran across Bates and one other company (can't remember the name).  Didn't know if you had any other recommendations or personal experience with any.

Thanks,

Nina

While taking a ride we stopped at the DeSoto Drag Strip and along with the cars were motorcycles.  I noticed a lady racer on a drag bike.  Some of the other bikes were stock and others drag modified.  Let us know what you find out.

My dad and my brother were into the cycle drags, not me, i like road racing. The leathers really are not that different. I can only think of one true women's drag suit maker: Vanson  http://vansonleathers.com/product_pages/suits/suits2/drag_racing.htm

This summer I plan to do a few grunge runs and I'll wear my Teknic 2 piece leathers.Good luck!

I visited a large Vansons Leathers store in Fall River, Mass. while visiting my daughter.  They had old leather racing suits donated by racers hanging on the wall, along with racing pictures.  The store is located in an old mill building with a very high ceiling. It looks almost like a dry cleaner with the racks able to move.  They had a section that held patterns, most likely from custom suits. A really cool store!
