Hello ladies!
As most of you know, the women street boots category is somewhat limited... with Alpinestars, Sidi and a couple of others only having a few to choose from.
I saw on another website a suggestion given to another woman rider to look at motorcross boots, i wondered if this would really be "enough" for the street (in comparison to a Sidi boot, etc)?
Would like to hear your thoughts on this on pro/cons of using motocross boots for riding sportsbikes (my thoughts are more ended towards the street but if u have track knowledge in this regards, i'd be interested in that too <since i hear 4track only qualification is 3/4 protective height).

BTW, I have fox motorcross boots if you can fit a size 5-6 and want to try them on your bike.
Permalink Reply by MotoQT (Evelyn) on November 26, 2011 at 12:37am Thats good 2kno Katie... i figured there was a reason but just unsure what it would be (since they dont look like it would be harder to shift... then again, I have 3"heel wedges on my Timberlands and shift just fine lol) haha ~ but no seriously i would like some proper street boots eventually. I'm a size 6.5-7 so those wouldnt fit, but thx 4the offer :)

I unfortunately will probably never have true motorcycle riding boots for the street (I do have them for track). Just because I need the heel height I have on the boots I wear.
My husband and I just bought new Bilt "Hurricane" boots at Cyclegear on sale this past Saturday, see http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product/hurricane_waterproof_motorcycl... -- they're men's boots, but I got a pair that fit me and they seem to have a lot of ankle, shin, and foot protection, and they're comfortable. The toe has just a tiny bit more point to it than the women's Bilt boots, so I can maneuver it under the shift lever more easily.
Permalink Reply by Ivette "Evi" Pierantoni on December 9, 2011 at 4:26pm I have a pair of Sidi Model Stivali Vertigo. l love them.
I also just got surgery on my wrist and will be out of commision for 2 months
. But I will try caging it to any near by events
Permalink Reply by MotoQT (Evelyn) on December 9, 2011 at 7:10pm Evi ~ Ay dios mio, I didnt kno about ur surgery :( awwww girl. Carpal tunnel? I opted not to have the surgery when i got it initially but i hope it works out for you! I'd haven't heard of the Stivali boots, but do see they came out w/the Vertigo Lei and Vertigo Lei- Fusion. Does yours have any height to the sole?
I just REALLY like the height my Timberlands Wedge boots give me (extra 3-4" to my 5'2" stature, and on the bike they are super comfy tho they dont look like it, and im not tippying a bit). Ive the ankle version of the below (which im soooo getting the taller boot version now for winter as well)

Permalink Reply by MotoQT (Evelyn) on December 12, 2011 at 10:51pm Those r nice Evi P, but this sporty shorty needs some height :(
Katie - I get teased to no end about my riding boots but they are sooo comfy even shifting (for me anyhow) and give me the height i feel i need. I still want to find the ones with the gold accents, i know i saw them somewhere last year. Here are the other ones i also have but the yellow tims yet dirty too quickly so i dont use them as much (I checked Finishline and they are out of stock so the hunt continues to find them under $100eek! I orig bought them in summer on sale for $50)

I have the Icon bombshell boots collecting dust in my closet as I found, for me, they were more flair than functional. My issue is there is not a big enough notch on the heel and sometimes when i'm hanging off my bike in a deep lean my foot would slip off the peg. Those ones QT posted above look to have zero heel notch, and i would not feel comfortable with that at all. I have had my foot slip off even with my Alpinestar Stella race boots too, but it's rare. Of course I've ridden in tennis shoes too so to each their own. I'm just rambling..

Permalink Reply by MotoQT (Evelyn) on December 13, 2011 at 4:42pm I have the Icon Bombshells too & wore them out a couple of times only... IMO and you are so right, more flair than anything (not a fan of Icon much). The timberlands i have at least have more grip than it looks and i feel pretty good i wont be sliding around in them till i really wear them down more, tho im surely not leaning as hard as u are (i'm soo not there yet lol). I guess bcz its a boot, i dont really care about the U cut (notch), if it were my kicks/sneakers then definitely.
tho.
